Hispania is a Spanish language school in Valencia which was established in 2002. It is located in a detached villa in the university area, next to the Rectorate of the University of Valencia and the Viveros Gardens. It also has another building, right next door, mainly for organised groups.

A walk of just over 5 minutes from the school will take you to the city centre, the historic part of Valencia, the main shopping area, bars and cinemas. This location allows students to enjoy the city after their Spanish classes in Valencia.

Next to the school, there is also the Valencia Tennis Club and the Equestrian Club, for those sports lovers who wish to practise their favourite sport during their stay. In addition, next to the school is the Turia Park, an 8 kilometre long garden that crosses the city from the Bioparc Zoo all the way to the City of Arts and Sciences.

By taking the bus or the tram, students can get to the beach in less than 10 minutes and enjoy pleasant moments of relaxation.

The excellence of this school is accredited by the most important national and international institutions, and recognised with the most prestigious awards in the sector.

    Terms and conditions

The only formal prerequisite for enrolment in any of our courses is that students must be over 18 years old. Minors will require the permission of their parents or legal guardians, as our company does not take responsibility over the students once they are outside the school premises. Minors who travel in groups will require the supervision of a monitor.

The minimum and maximum duration of every course, start dates and academic pre-requisites for enrolment depend on each type of course. Students can find this information on our official website or in the information leaflets provided by the school.

Before the start of the course, the student’s level is determined through a written test. If the student disagrees with the result, we are always happy to hear their point of view and re-evaluate their results through written and oral tests in order to determine their language level.

General Spanish Courses will have a specific total number of hours, chosen by the student, which every student will acquire in the form of an hour package (bono de horas) at the moment of their enrolment at our school. The student may make use of the school’s resources while he or she has a current course, i.e. an active hour package. The hour package will not be considered active if the student has put his or her course on hold. The hour packages do not have expiration date to use them, which means, the students can use them on the time they require without a time deadline. This way, students can attend the lessons they bought regardless of the time period they need to attend all of them. The only exception to this are students holding a student visa, who are required to attend at least 80% of the classes in the time indicated by their student visa. Once their student visa is expired, they can only make up a maximum of 20% of the classes they booked. In General Spanish Courses, the face to face lessons will be in reduced groups with usually a maximum of 10 students at the school, which would only be exceeded in special circumstances. FAQ

    School and courses

The school is located in the heart of the university area, just a five-minute walk from the historic centre. It is also well connected by public transport, so you can easily reach the school every day. Students get to the school on foot, by bicycle or by bus.
Courses are offered throughout the year and most of the courses start on any Monday of the year (except absolute beginners). Some special courses start on the first Monday of each month. Exam preparation courses have start dates which may vary depending on the date of the exam.
The school will be closed on public holidays. Classes missed due to public holidays will be made up and attended at a later date.
There are groups for all levels. Hispania has an Academic Coordination department which has designed different level tests to find the right group for each student. If you have already studied Spanish, the week before your course starts, you will need to take a level test. Based on the results, the Academic Coordination Team will place you into the right group.
It depends on the course you have applied for. In the case of the general Spanish course, the classes have a duration of 1 hour and 50 minutes.
Yes, at the end of your course you will receive a certificate of attendance. Please note that you will need to have attended at least 85% of your classes in order to receive it.

    Accommodation

If you require a special diet for religious, health or ethical reasons, we can provide special meals. You just need to clearly specify your dietary requirements when you make your booking and we will discuss this with your assigned host family.
The school offers 2 types of accommodation: shared flat and host family.
The host families are close to the school, about twenty minutes away. In fact, most students get to the school on foot or by bike every day, so if you choose to live with a host family you will probably not need to use public transport to get to school. All student flats are located close to the school. Most students living in a student flat can walk to the school.
You can book your transfer from or to the airport in advance. This way, a driver will pick you up at the agreed meeting point and take you to the desired address.
The host families that collaborate with Hispania meet the requirements established by the school. However, if you would prefer to change your host family, please let us know and we will find a new host family according to your preferences. Please note that during some periods of the year, this process may take a few days longer than expected, so we thank you in advance for your understanding!
