Spending a season as an au pair in Spain is one of the best ways to learn a language and introduce yourself to the culture of the place. Au pair is responsible of taking care of the kids of the native family in exchange for a place to live. Those who take on this programme speak Spanish all day long but they also have days and hours off to enjoy the city where they be living.
Thanks to this form of education, children from the host family can also learn a native language of the au pair during the activities organised by the carer such us reading in both languages, singing or doing sports.
Other form of integration that is getting more popular is through cooking activities. In some houses au pair with children prepare a tipical dish from their country and on other occassion it's the family who prepares the meal. It's a perfect opportunity to introduce both cultures to each other.
Next idea of how to exchange and gain knowlegde by doing so is the activity with maps. Au Pair would show the geography of their location with a description of each place and some tipical habits and traditions of the area and later it would be kids' turn.
The programme normally lasts various months but the dates may vary depending on the needs and objectives of the au pair. The effects of such courses are immense as it's a complete immersion. Additionally, it a chance to make new friends and contacts and mantain the friendships after returning to the country of origin.
